Cubic yard Calculator
How this calculator works
This tool estimates how much material you need in cubic yards, based on the length, width (or diameter) and depth of your project. It multiplies your measurements to find the volume, then converts it into cubic yards, cubic feet and cubic meters, and adds a small buffer for waste and settling.
A cubic yard covers a 10 × 10 foot area at about 3 inches deep, or a 3 × 3 foot area at 3 feet deep. Materials settle and compact once placed, so most suppliers recommend ordering 5 to 10% more than your exact measurement, which is why waste is included by default.
The ton estimate is approximate. Actual weight depends on the material and how damp it is, so check with your supplier before ordering in bulk.
